A new blog to keep things focused

General Add comments

Okay, I admit I was warned: start a blog to help clients (potential and existing) navigate the murky depths of client/designer/developer relations, and your going to just end up going on and on about the stuff that interests you a.k.a. development.

My designer, the oh-so-pessimistic-but-annoyingly-correct author of that statement, was of course correct.  So, in an effort to keep the company blog on track (er, put it back on track) and still be able to focus upon the stuff that I find interesting, that we are currently working on, or any of the various discoveries that I make and blog about (only to realize that Camden or some other super-blogger discovered and blogged about years ago) ... well, here this is.

In brief: I'm the founder and lead developer of Clever Technology Inc., a website design, development and general consulting company.  I'm big on usability and form defining function, so-so on ORM and down-right hostile when it comes to rigid development ideologies.  My philosophy is that if you're a developer who doesn't love coding, it will surely kill you (you don't have to like computer's though ... hating them is just the natural order of things).

One of the things you'll see a lot of discussions on, about, and involving is the Mura CMS, a terrific ColdFusion open source content management system developed by Blue River Interactive.  I've often felt that the core reason for having a relatively small CF community wasn't that it (CF) cost money, but that there wasn't a user-friendly, stable and easily extensible Open Source CMS for the community to build around.  (Yes, I'm aware there have been others, but none that I felt checked off all the boxes).  With Mura in the house, as well as Railo/BD and some really solid enhancements to CF9, I'm sensing big things are in store for the CF community in terms of growth and popularity.

So there it is.

Enjoy.

Or don't.

It's not going to stop me either way.
